Online posts have circulated the claim that Fox News analyst Juan Williams was hired by Republican U.S. presidential candidate Ron DeSantis’ campaign team. Both Fox News and Ron DeSantis’ campaigns have said there is no truth to online posts claiming Williams is joining the Florida governor’s presidential campaign team. A tweet said: “Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis has hired former Fox News contributor Juan Williams to his campaign management team” (here). There is no mention of plans to join the DeSantis campaign on Williams’ official Twitter or Facebook accounts (twitter.com/TheJuanWilliams) and (here). As of July 12, 2023, both Fox News and DeSantis’ team told Reuters there is no truth to claims that Fox News analyst Juan Williams was hired by the Florida governor’s presidential campaign.

In 1980, 32-year-old Clarence Thomas was a no-name aide to a Republican senator. At a conference for Black conservatives, he complained to a journalist about his sister being on welfare. The journalist, Juan Williams, wrote a column about it that caught the attention of Reagan's team. "She gets mad when the mailman is late with her welfare check," Thomas said, according to Williams. Reagan ended up making massive cuts to welfare programs and allowing states to institute work requirements for welfare recipients.
